What is goMobi?

goMobi is a service that makes your business easily available to mobile users with a fast and easy mobile website. Customers get immediate access on their mobile phone to all the key information about your business and are able to contact you with just one click or touch.

My business already has a full website. Why do I need a mobile site?

How is my goMobi mobile site built?

When you sign up for goMobi, you get access to the user friendly goMobi Setup Assistant which puts you in charge of your site’s look and content. With the Setup Assistant your site can be built in minutes and changed whenever you wish.

Another great feature of your goMobi site is that some of the content from your full site will already be populated for you on your goMobi site, such as your telephone number, address and logo.

Does goMobi require a .mobi domain name?

goMobi does not require a .mobi domain name. When you purchase a goMobi service, you will be provided with a free third level domain name (e.g. xxxx.gomobinow.mobi) which you can use to build your mobile site. You can also use a custom name of your choice for your mobile site.

How does my goMobi mobile website become live?

Your goMobi website is live from the time you purchase the service from your registrar. If you have provided your full website URL some features for example; call us, find us and your logo may already be pre-populated on your goMobi site and can be seen when you view your site on either your desktop or mobile phone. As you further build out features, on the goMobi Setup Assistant, these will appear in real-time on your site.

Where do I go to setup and manage my goMobi website?

To manage your goMobi account, log into your account and go to goMobi account details page and click on Manage Mobile Site link. You will be redirected to gomobimanager.com where you will be able to setup and manage your mobile site.

Can goMobi be used with a third level domain?

Yes.

I already own a .mobi domain name. Can I use it instead of getting another one with goMobi?

Yes.

Can I use any TLD for my goMobi domain?

goMobi service can be used on any TLD except .TEL.

How does the 30-day free goMobi trial work?

When you sign up for goMobi, you may be offered the option to use the product free of charge for thirty days. A third level domain (e.g. xxxxx.gomobinow.mobi) will be assigned to you so that a domain purchase is not necessary to evaluate the product. During the free trial period, you can make changes to your goMobi site as desired, according to the information and functionality you want to present to your users.

Will this replace my desktop site, or be in addition to my desktop site?

While your existing web site is aimed at giving as much information about your business, a goMobi mobile site allows you to deliver immediate access to what matters most when on the go.

The two sites are complimentary and work together to make sure your customers are getting the most appropriate experience for their context and their device. For customers who do not yet have a desktop site, goMobi offers a quick and easy way to get up and running with a website.

How often can I update/change my site? Are there additional costs for that?

You can easily use the Setup Assistant at any time to make all the changes you want. There is no extra charge, so feel free to experiment and find the best way for you to use goMobi to grow your business.

What is included in the goMobi package?

The following is included in the package:

  • Hosting of the goMobi site
  • Unlimited access to the Setup Assistant to modify the goMobi site
  • A fair use policy applies to traffic volumes a 2000 page views per day is the approximate ceiling.

How much time will I need to set up my goMobi site?

Your goMobi site can be set up in minutes with the simple and easy to use Setup Assistant. goMobi also offers a unique feature, with its underlying technology, allowing the pre-populating some of your content such as your telephone number for ‘Call Us’. Making any changes to pre-selected content is very easy. The Setup Assistant is highly intuitive and will guide you through each feature you want to include.

What happens if the expiration date for my domain is different to the one for my goMobi site?

The goMobi service is dependent on the availability of the domain to reach the site: therefore if the domain expires, the goMobi site cannot be reached. It is necessary to renew the domain, or use another domain to reach the goMobi site to ensure continuity of service.

If I change the source site (full website) to a different site, how quickly is this reflected on the .mobi site?

The source site content is only used to populate the site the first time. Therefore changing the source site to a different site will have no effect, since the user would have confirmed their settings via the goMobi Setup Assistant. If they have not confirmed their settings, then content from the new source site will be available in minutes.

Can I delete the domain name but keep goMobi?

Yes you can, provided you remember to specify another domain for your goMobi site to keep it reachable.

How do I setup auto-redirect?

A prebuilt JavaScript code snippet must be added to you full website. Simply copy and paste the JavaScript into your full website.

The JavaScript is available in the goMobi account detail page in goMobi Manager.

When I remove a feature, is the content still there?

Disabling a feature simply removes the icon from the live site. However, the content entered will still remain in the goMobi Setup Assistant, in case you should want to re-enable it later. You can always simply delete the content and save to remove it completely.

Do the icons I choose change on my goMobi website?

Every time you make changes to your goMobi site on the Setup Assistant, remember to click the OK button to save and apply the changes. An unsaved label is added next to the title of each feature to remind you to go back and save the changes.

Can I copy images from my website & paste them directly to my goMobi site?

It is not possible to paste images directly on the goMobi setup assistant, but it is possible to reference images hosted on another server using simple html tags

Where does the booking request go?

You can specify the email address where you wish to receive the request easily via the goMobi Setup Assistant.

Why don't my social media links work?

If your social media links don't work please check again through the steps outlined in the help functions of the related feature for example Facebook.

Do I have to renew goMobi at the same time as the domain?

No, they do not have to be renewed together, but for the goMobi service to be reachable, the domain has to be current.

Do I need an international code with my phone number?

It is recommended to include the international code so that click to call would work also on foreign phones (e.g. a tourist wanting to get in touch with you via your goMobi site). You can however also just write the local number if you prefer.

How do I change the position of a feature?

To change a position of a feature please use the Options link in each feature, within options there is the ability to change the position of the feature.

Can I change the name of an icon?

You can modify the label of an icon easily by clicking on the Options button of the feature you want to update. Remember to save the change to apply the new label to the live site.
